Most guides to shopping for Indian clothes in the Greater Toronto Area tell you to come into a store. This one starts from the opposite question, because for a buyer in Mississauga it is the honest one: the shipping is usually free, so what does driving to a shop actually buy you?
The answer is narrower than most retailers admit, and it is worth knowing before you spend a Saturday on it. The shipping arithmetic, which decides most of this
Standard delivery inside Canada is CAD $25, and free on orders above CAD $125. Occasion wear here starts at around that figure and mostly sits above it, so for a Mississauga address the delivery on a lehenga, a saree set or a sharara is generally free. Which means the drive to Brampton saves you nothing on cost and nothing meaningful on time. It buys exactly one thing: a fitting before the purchase becomes irreversible. Which categories are worth the drive
The dividing line is the Return and Exchange Policy, and it is unusually clean.
Order online with confidence
Standard-size suit sets, shararas and ghararas, palazzo sets, kurta sets and standard lehengas are returnable within seven days of delivery, unworn and with tags intact, for store credit. Return postage is on you. If you know your size in this catalogue, there is no reason to drive.
One caveat that applies across all of them: section 9 is explicit that there are no direct exchanges. A size swap means returning the first piece and placing a new order, which realistically costs two to three weeks once dispatch, delivery, inspection and store credit are counted. That is the real cost of guessing wrong, not the postage.
Come and try it on
Five categories are excluded from returns outright: bridal wear, pre-draped sarees, sarees sold with a stitched blouse, customised or personalised pieces, and anything bought under a Buy 1 Get 1 promotion. There is no store credit on these, because a garment cut to one person's measurements cannot be resold.
That matters more than it sounds, because of what is on the saree rail. The large majority of the active saree range here is drapes rather than lengths of cloth — the collection is called Drapes & Saree for that reason. So most of the saree category sits in the non-returnable column, and it is also the category people most often buy without trying on. One unit per size, and what that changes
Read off the live stock rather than assumed: the current pre-draped wave runs XS to XL at one unit per size, priced between roughly CAD $125 and $175. Other categories run similarly shallow. Occasion wear is bought in small runs and the rail turns over.
The practical rule that follows is not a sales line, it is arithmetic. If you drive in, try something on and it fits, buy it then. There is no second unit in that size to come back for on the following Saturday, and on a non-returnable category there is nothing to order later either. Coming back to think about it is how people end up with their second choice.
What a fitting gets you that a screen cannot
Two things, and neither is available to an online buyer at any price.
Bring the shoes. Every hem decision in occasion wear is made against a heel height, and the single most common wasted alteration is a hem set against whatever the customer happened to walk in wearing. A lehenga skirt, a sharara leg and a pre-draped saree all have a correct length that depends entirely on the shoe. If you are driving anyway, put the actual shoes in the car. Someone ordering from another province cannot do this, and it is the difference between one alteration and two.
See the colour under warm light. Champagne, ivory, blush and taupe are the four shades that shift most between daylight, a phone screen and a banquet hall lit at around 2000 to 2700 kelvin. Ivory can read as cream, and champagne can read as gold, and neither shows up in a photograph. Carrying the piece from the window to the warm lights takes thirty seconds in a shop and is impossible on a screen. If the outfit has to sit in an album next to a bride, that is worth checking.
Practical notes on the visit

Two things worth knowing before you set off:
- Refunds are not processed at the store location. Section 5.6 is explicit. The shop is for fitting and buying; a return on an eligible item goes through the online process from your order confirmation email. Do not drive up with a parcel.
- The weekday evenings are the useful part. GTA wedding functions cluster on weekends, which is exactly when you are least able to shop for them. An eight o'clock close on a Tuesday is worth more to most people than a Saturday afternoon spent in a queue.
Timing it against the season
Two clusters matter here. Diwali falls on Sunday 8 November 2026, and Ontario wedding season runs from roughly November 2026 through February 2027, because that is when family can travel and halls are booked.
Count backwards from the event, not forwards from the order. Six weeks is generous, four is comfortable, three works if nothing needs altering. Under two weeks you are buying from what exists in your size, and no shipping speed recovers a wrong one when there is no exchange. If a blouse or a hem needs work, add another week on top.
